Luc SAVARD

Full Professor


Luc Savard is a Full Professor at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University.

He received his PhD in Economics from the Paris School of Economics in 2006. Before joining UM6P, he was professor at the Department of Economics at the Université de Sherbrooke for over 15 years. He was co-founder and director of the Research Group in Economics and International Development (GREDI) and director of programs in economics from 2015 to 2019. Prior to his time at the Université de Sherbrooke, he was a team leader and program manager at IDRC-Canada Western and Central Africa regional office based in Dakar for five years.

Previously, he was a research associate at CREFA of Laval University for 7 years, and an expert for many international institutions (WB, IMF, UNICEF, ADB, OECD, etc.).

Luc Savard is the author of around fifty scientific publications, book chapters and is co-author of a book titled «Economic policy for development and computable general equilibrium models». His research interests include the environment and natural resources, public expenditure, and impact analysis on poverty and inequality. He was francophone editor of the Canadian Journal of Development Studies from 2010 to 2021 and he is presently an associate editor for the International Journal of Microsimulation.
